I dislike this book SO much. It is so negative, disheartening, and just plain upsetting. So much so, that I cried more reading it than I ever did about anything related to my 5yr old adhd daughter's diagnosis. Everything seems to be written for parents that think the worst of thier adhd child. Constantly, the book says things like, even though its hard try to put a good spin on their personality "flaws". Even though the concept is good the way it is worded along with the rest of the book is unsettling. It's like they are talking sense into an irrational parent that feels their child is outrageous and absolutely horrible. The attitude of constant "illness", medication, and disablity of this book made me sick. Considering there is hardly any available literature on strictly girls with adhd its very unfortunate to have such a poor attitude towards the topic. Adhd children are in fact different and do need different things. They may have to work harder at skills that the rest of society deems normal, but they are not "ill". They are just different. They learn different, think different, and all have a zest and an excitement for life the rest of us "normal" people will never know. Let's start having literature on the topic reflect that mentality instead."Everybody is a Genius. I expected more... this is all just info we all have...medicate...be patient...HEARD IT!!! I want real info... ideas on how to find her strengths...how to motivate...how to encourage...how to build a healthy nondependent relationship with her.

I wasn’t impressed. Do your research online. Just make sure you use more then one resource.

Not much that wasn't already known...

So helpful to learn how girls process and experience adhd differently than boys. Better understanding of the emotional and self esteem factors involved with them.

If you have a girl that may be ADHD, you should read this book
